The Call The Midwife star who is the niece of a Hollywood legend and has appeared in Star Wars

It’s not a secret that Call the Midwife has seen a fair amount of familiar faces appear during the programme, however there was one famous star who might have forgotten who is the niece of a legendary Hollywood icon.

Harriet Walter, who played Sister Ursula for three episodes in 2017, is a British actress whose own uncle is the James Bond and Dracula legend Christopher Lee.

The 72-year old was appointed a Dame in 2011 for her services to drama and has received a plethora of awards and nominations over the years, including a Tony Award and three Primetime Emmy Awards.

Harriet has appeared in films such as Sense and Sensibility (1995), The Young Victoria (2009), Rocketman (2019) and Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel (2021).

She notably appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015, following in the footsteps of her uncle Christopher Lee who appeared in the Star Wars prequel trilogy as the villain Count Dooku.

Harriet kick-started her career with the Royal Shakespeare Company in productions such as Twelve Night, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Macbeth and Much Ado About Nothing.

She notably appeared in the hit BBC show Killing Eve, where Walter portrayed a former Olympics gymnastic champion who trained Villanelle in assassination.

As well as this, she has also appeared in four episodes in Downton Abbey (2013-15) and portrayed Clementine Churchill in the Netflix series, The Crown (2016).

She also appeared for two episodes in Ted Lasso, where she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series in 2021.

In her personal life, Harriet was in a long-term relationship with her partner Peter Blythe from 1996 until his death 2004. She then met actor Guy Paul in 2009 and the pair married in May 2011.

Harriet is also the great-great-great-granddaughter of John Walter who founded The Times. She has a successful career spanning more than 35 years and revealed in an interview in 2007 that she always wanted to become an actress since she was nine-years old.
